New Sustainably Harvested Fish Fillets in Stock!
We have been looking for some months for a good source for sustainably harvested Northeast fish and seafood. We are excited to inform you that we have begun carrying products from the Midcoast Fishermen’s Cooperative of Port Clyde, Maine, available for order next week.
Port Clyde is a small village on the coast of Maine, at the mouth of the Penobscot and Muscongus bays. Fishing has been the main industry and way of life there for the past 200 years. The Cooperative builds on that tradition, bringing us wild-caught seafood of unsurpassed quality, taste and freshness. Their small fleet of fishing vessels use environmentally sustainable methods that reduce bycatch, habitat impact and fossil fuel consumption. They are careful to harvest only enough fish to allow the schools to regenerate and flourish. The Cooperative sustains the economic vitality of the town and its traditional way of life as well as respecting and preserving its environment.
In stock right now we have frozen cod and haddock fillets. Both are mild, white fish with tender flaky flesh, suitable for baking, frying, broiling or poaching. The Cooperative harvests several other species of fish, as well as lobster, crab, shrimp and scallops. We may try other products and we’ll keep you posted!
